Chapter 04 · The Salon

Private Events & Group Bookings

From a birthday brunch for eight to a full-house buyout for sixty — the spaces, the packages and the small print.

The spaces

The house has two rooms and a terrace. Le Salon is the back room: 24 seated at one long table or 30 standing, with its own door onto a small paved courtyard and a wall of shelves that make it feel like a dining room rather than a café. It can be closed off completely, so a group there does not hear the espresso grinder. La Salle is the front room with the pastry counter and the bar — 24 seated across marble tables, but it cannot be privatised on its own during opening hours. A full-house buyout takes both rooms: 48 seated, 60 standing, plus 12 on the terrace from April to October. Groups of seven or more are always seated in the Salon because a party that size in the front room slows service for everyone else.

Minimum spends apply on top of the per-person minimums: the Salon is €600 on weekdays and €900 at weekends; a full-house daytime buyout is €2,400 on a weekday and €3,200 on a Saturday or Sunday; Le Soir has a €2,800 minimum regardless of the day. Anything you order beyond the package — extra wine, espresso drinks, a cake — counts towards the minimum.

Full buyout or the Salon alone?

Full buyout — for

  • Complete privacy, your own music, the terrace in season.
  • Kitchen and bar work only for you, so mains arrive together.
  • Speeches and toasts are possible without disturbing other guests.
  • Evening slots are only available as buyouts.

Full buyout — against

  • Weekend minimum of €3,200 — steep for under 40 guests.
  • We need six weeks' notice for a Saturday; the Salon often needs two.
  • Daytime buyouts close the café to regulars, so we cap them at two a month.
  • Amplified music must stop at 22:00; the building is residential.

In practice, the Salon alone suits birthdays, baby showers and team breakfasts of up to 24. Buyouts make sense for weddings' morning-after brunches, product launches and anything with more than 30 guests.

How booking works

  1. Send an enquiry through the contact form with date, numbers and which package interests you. We reply within 48 hours with availability.
  2. We place a provisional hold for seven days at no cost.
  3. A 30% deposit confirms the booking; we take card or bank transfer.
  4. Final guest numbers and menu choices are due five days before the event.
  5. The balance is settled on the day, as a single bill.

Cancellation more than 14 days out returns the deposit minus a €50 administration fee. Between 7 and 14 days, half the deposit is refunded. Under 7 days, the deposit is forfeited. If we have to cancel — a burst pipe, a strike that closes the Métro — the deposit is refunded in full.

"A group of eight in the front room slows service for forty other people. That is why anything over six goes in the Salon."

What we can and cannot do

  • Cakes from outside are welcome for €3 per guest cakeage, which covers plates, cutlery and cutting. Our pastry team can also make a tarte for 20–30 people from €65.
  • Wine you bring for Le Soir carries €12 corkage per bottle. Our own list runs from €32 to €68.
  • Decorations are fine on the tables and shelves; no confetti, glitter or anything fixed to the walls.
  • Music: a background playlist through our speakers is included. DJs and live music are not possible.
  • Dietary needs: give us a list five days ahead and every guest gets a plate that works for them.
  • Children count as half a guest for minimum-spend purposes and eat at half price.

A typical run of show

For a Saturday Le Grand in the Salon: doors at 10:30, pastries and coffee on the table as guests arrive, mains at 11:30, sweet finish at 12:30, coffee refills until 13:00. For Le Soir: arrival at 18:30, canapés until 19:30, boards on the table at 19:30, bar open until 22:30, out by 23:00. We are flexible within those shapes, and we will tell you plainly if a plan will not work.
